Coretet is proud to announce another commission by Caroline Shaw for Calidore String Quartet

Caroline Shaw is writing two sequels to First Essay, the piece Coretet commissioned for Calidore String Quartet. Coretet has agreed to be lead commissioner on this new work. Coretet was founded in September 2015, to commission new chamber music for young musicians. After hearing from several musicians how meaningful it is to be able to interact with a living composer, the importance of making new music available became a priority. Not only do many musicians benefit from interacting with a composer on a current piece of music but many feel it gives them new insights to the old classics. The level of talent in young musicians and composers of today is at a higher level and their music should be heard.
